Retail Manager (Tasting Room/Tours):

Job Overview

It is the responsibility of the Retail Manager is to work with staff and management to maintain the four core principles of Denali Brewing:  Safety, Quality, Production and Teamwork.  The Retail Manager is expected to exercise good judgment and decision making to ensure these principles are maintained.

Qualifications:

– Prior management experience.
– Extremely high level of attention to detail.
– Ability to think and act creatively, while conforming to existing standard operating procedures and
Title 4 tasting room regulations.
– Be proficient in all positions to assist staff as needed. (TAP certification required)
– Have a strong working knowledge of computers and networks to maintain POS and office computer functionality, including individual workstations and WiFi systems.
– Be able to manage a staff of 3 or more people.
– Possess good beer knowledge.
– Ability to sit/stand/bend/walk and maintain manual dexterity for duration of work period.
– Must be able to work independently and be able & willing to work morning, midday, nights and/or weekend shifts.
– Able to lift 55 lbs. and move at least 165 lbs.
– Have a flexible schedule, team player and be 21 years or older.
– Speak in front of groups

 

Duties will include:

– Ensure the tasting room is appropriately staffed for business.  This includes dealing with situations as they arise such as illness, injury and other unexpected events.
– Ensure staff is adequately trained; develop/maintain training program for all positions.
– Coordinate with HR to adequately staff per season.
– Meet labor and sales goals as set by the general manager.
– Ensure staff have the tools necessary to do their job well.
– Scheduling tasting room and tour staff. This includes picking up bartending and tour shifts.
– Maintain appearance, cleanliness and general ambiance in accordance with the culture of Denali Brewing.
– Contact the appropriate persons to facilitate repairs.  When possible, use in-house resources to affect repairs to minimize repair time and expense.  This may require learning new skills and dealing with problems with limited resources.
– Design, coordinate and staff facility tours.
– Work on menu design, content and pricing.
– Navigate adverse situations such as power outages, water outages and flooding and develop procedures to deal with these challenges.
– Order supplies and products as needed for daily tasting room/tour operations.
– Cold storage inventory and rotation. This means detail, accurate and organized in/out sheets.
– Coordinate weekly, monthly and quarterly inventory counts and manage inventory costing sheets.
– Create a culture of safety, quality, production, and ownership.

Pay Start: Pay dependent upon education and experience. All other benefits defined in the employee handbook.

Denali Brewery is seeking a fun and energetic individual to join the crew in our Packaging Department. Our Packing Hall is an 8000 square foot facility that has the capacity to can over 700 cases of beer a day!

Essentially this job entails getting the highest quality beer into the vessel – be that can, bottle or keg for distribution.  In this position you will also be required, at times, to do a multitude of various tasks to help keep the operation running smoothly.  You can expect to work and learn about a lot of various pieces of equipment and brewery functions.

Qualifications:

– Extremely high level of attention to detail, specifically with sanitation and documentation.

– Possess technical/mechanical expertise and have the ability to troubleshoot/fix packaging equipment

– Ability to think and act creatively, while conforming to existing standard operating procedures and federal, state, and local regulations

– Must be in good physical condition and able to maneuver in confined spaces.

– Ability to sit/stand/bend/walk and maintain manual dexterity for duration of work period.

– Must be able to work independently and be able & willing to work morning, midday, overnight and/or weekend shifts.

– Able to lift 55 lbs. and move at least 165 lbs., and work in extreme hot and cold environments.

– Possess good beer knowledge and a good sense of smell, distinguishing flavors and colors in beer.

– Have a flexible schedule, team player, and be 21 years or older.

 

Duties will include:

– Operating canning line, keg washer/filler equipment, including set-up, run time, and clean-up.

– Maintain run-time, switch over, and operation of Switchback boxing machine

-Operate the bottling line, de-stemming and re-stemming of kegs, slurring of sour kegs and filling.

– Maintain complete separation of non-sour production from all sour parts and processes

-Operate keg washer, including set-up, run time and clean-up.

-Understand, assemble, sanitize, clean and operate manual kegging rig.

– Tracking and recording keg/can numbers on the beer in sheet as well as the batch tracking worksheet.

– Maintain cleanliness, sanitation of all equipment, tanks, and work areas to specifications.

– Understand and adhere to recipes, processes, and safety procedures in all tasks.

– De-stem, inspect, repair and re-stem any and all kegs

– Assist in monthly and quarterly inventories

– Maintain accurate inventory of all dirty and clean kegs in house

-create culture of ownership

The purpose of the Brewers Assistant is to learn and assist in the production of beer at Denali Brewing Company.  You will essentially be the right hand man to our Master Brewer.  If you have a passion for craft beer and are interested in a career as a brewer this is a great entry level position!

Qualifications:

– Must be in good physical condition and able to maneuver in confined spaces.

– Ability to sit/stand/bend/walk and maintain manual dexterity for duration of work period.

– Must be able to work independently and be able & willing to work morning, midday, overnight and/or weekend shifts.

– Able to lift 55 lbs. and move at least 165 lbs., and work in extreme hot and cold environments.

– Desire to learn and gain skills relevant to the production of beer at Denali Brewing Co.

– Understanding and passion for of all aspects of beer production, including grain handling, yeast management, and packaging.

– Possess good beer knowledge and a good sense of smell, distinguishing flavors and colors in beer.

– Possess technical/mechanical expertise and have the ability to troubleshoot/fix brewing equipment

– Have a flexible schedule, team player, and be 21 years or older.

 

Duties will include:

– CIP of brewhouse, fermenters/bright tank, and transfer of liquid between tanks.

– Assist the shift brewer on brew days including all aspects of wort production, clean-up, and preparation.

– Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment, tanks, and work areas to brewer’s specifications.

– Maintain brewer’s specified SOPs in wort production, vessel cleaning and sanitation, yeast handling, fermentation, and maturation.

-Build and mill grain bills for all recipes

– Understand and adhere to recipes, processes, and safety procedures in all tasks.

– Troubleshoot and report all mechanical issues to brewer as needed.

– Operate and collaborate with brewer on pilot system for new and innovative brews. – Gain all knowledge required to become a shift brewer

This position is for bartending at the Denali Brewing tasting room.  This job is one of the most vital in the Brewing industry. Although great beer can speak for itself.. the person serving it controls the over-all experience.  It is essential to learn and express good beer knowledge and represent the values and mission of Denali Brewing to it’s visitors.

-Maintain tap lines and handles, including scheduled cleanings for local accounts.

-Load and Unload Trucks
